The National Centers on Sexuality (NCS) is a unique collaboration designed to profoundly alter the sexual landscape in the United States. The NCS goal of fostering healthy sexuality is impeded by social and institutional barriers, which undermine honest, healthy sexual engagement. Through a model based on collaboration and with a shared vision that recognizes the important role that oppression plays in sexual wellness, three entities fulfill the NCS mission:
-
National Sexuality Resource Center (NSRC), building capacity and public awareness to advance healthy sexuality
-
Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality (CRGS), producing new knowledge to advance social justice and social change
-
Department of Sexuality Studies (SXS), creating scholarship and leadership in the field of sexuality studies
These three entities are strategically united to build on each other’s focus and expertise, fusing research, scholarship and interventions in order to have maximum influence on the broad field of sexuality. The umbrella of these organizations is NCS, an entity that helps fund and steer the collaboration.
